AD-Scan shows incorrect values

It is possible that the common mode range is has been exceeded.

The AD-Scan is a measurement device with differential inputs.

When connecting input signals, ensure that the common-mode range is within the selected measurement range. This requirement applies for both the negative, as well as the positive connection of the measured signal.

The common mode range is from approximately -3.5 V to +16 V.

In practice, this means that the signal needs a fixed reference to ground of the measurement device. This means a fixed relation to the negative connection of the measured signal and ground with a tolerance of approx. 1 Volt.

For in-vehicle measurements, this requirement is met by reference to the Battery. For measurements in the laboratory, this reference usually must be made manually, because most signal sources (such as calibrator) are floating.

In this specific case, by combining the ground of the signal source with the ground of equipment (in addition to the connection of the measured signal)  voltage over 8...9 V measured properly.

CONFIG and serial (SMB) configuration

SMB / CAN - devices can use CONFIG via the serial interface (SMB) to be configured. The prerequisite is that the CAN-operation has been activated.

The CAN-operation will be activated as follows:

  • SMB / CAN: The CAN connector has to be connected.

  • LEMO prior to hardware Rev #F: use switch on the back of the device.

  • LEMO hardware from Rev F #: The device must be supplied via CAN (not K39).

CONFIG needs firmware V3.2 or above for serial configuration.

xxScan and configuration via CAN

xxScan CAN devices with firmware V4.1 or above (2003-10-01) can use CONFIG on CAN for configuration.

Back

Firmware update via serial interface

xxScan SMB / CAN with firmware version V4.1 or above supports a firmware update via the serial interface. Devices with earlier firmware versions must be returned to CSM to receive a firmware update.

INCA 5.4.0 and CAN monitoring: DBC file can not be read

INCA 5.4.0 has an issue with the interpretation of DBC files for the CAN-monitoring operation. This problem is resolved with Hotfix 4. Hotfixes for INCA are available from ETAS.

Extended low input ranges of ADMM Pro are not available in CONFIG

CONFIG shows current values of ADMM with ADMM Pro connected

Older versions CONFIG do not recognize the new ranges available with the ADMM Pro, and therefore they do not indicate these ranges. If using an older version CONFIG, ADMM Pro with extended low input (10/20/50 mV) ranges, CONFIG incorrectly shows ranges currently available on the ADMM.

CD V5.91 (CONFIG 3.7.1.58) or higher is required.

Use the latest version of CONFIG.

CONFIG Software terminates once the configuration CNT-Scan is read out

Firmware V1.55 (or higher) of the CNT-Scan supports virtual channels. If virtual channels are enabled, the number of measurement channels is doubled. Older versions of CONFIG software cannot handle virtual channels, and the software will terminate with an error.

CD V5.90 (CONFIG 3.7.0.52) or higher is required.

Use the latest version of CONFIG.

Several INCA versions on one machine

INCA 5.x: If multiple versions of INCA 5.x are installed on the same machine, the add-on for each INCA version must be installed. The appropriate versions of the INCA AddOn for the respective versions of INCA must be used.

INCA AddOn does not work with 5.4.0

In INCA 5.4.0 there is a problem with the add-on interface. The problem is resolved with Hotfix 4. Fixes for INCA can be downloaded, visit the ETAS website.

Back

ES400 AddOn does not work after installation of the CSM AddOn

To resolve this problem, use the CSM AddOn V1.73 or above.

Back

Modules do not work on ES690

Use Hardware Service Pack (HSP) 5.0 or above. To download the Hardware service packs, visit the ETAS website.

CCP support

CCP (CAN Calibration Protocol) is supported beginning with UniCAN Tools Package version V4.11. This requires firmware V3.22 or above. The firmware binaries are included with the respective versions. The firmware update can be installed via the UniCAN manager.

UniCAN "classic" (Package V3.xx, firmware V2.xx) does not support CCP.

Back

UniCAN Professional does not record/log data

During configuration of a UniCAN device, the device type and operating mode must be set correctly.

See also UniCAN CONFIG: Device Settings Tab "Type & Mode”. A UniCAN Professional device must be set to Device Type ="professional". The mode of operation (logger / recorder) must be specified in device mode.
