ISO 17025 Calibration

Direct to

Calibration Laboratory of CSM GmbH
In order to fulfill the constantly rising requirements to warranty and quality proofs, particularly in measuring applications for the automobile industry, we successfully accomplished the accreditation for our calibration laboratory according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and the guidelines of the Deutscher Kalibrierdienst (DKD).

The registration number of our laboratory reads DKD-K-36201.

DAR-Certificate of Accreditation (PDF)
The scope of our accreditation covers the measuring range DC voltage and thermoelectric voltage for thermocouples of type K.

The current status and the accreditation extent of our calibration laboratory can be be queried at any time at the website of the DKD.

Thus we are in a the position to issue calibration certificates according to the guidelines of the DKD for our measurement modules.

Calibration of measurement devices

Newdrives AD-Scan, Thermo-Scan, Dual-Scan, as well as our MiniModules

are delivered ex factory with a DKD calibration certificate. This is issued bilingual in German and English language.

The device is marked with a DKD calibration label to document the calibration time and the number of the associated calibration certificate.

We recommend a calibration interval of maximally 1 year. The expiration date of the calibration interval is documented by an additional sticker on the device.
After a repair or a CAN bus upgrade generally a DKD calibration will be done.

Newdrives Baro-Scan

are delivered with a bilingual calibration certificate. The calibration is valid for 1 year. The expiration date is marked clearly by the calibration label on the device.

Calibration and maintenance service

For the continuous annual calibration and maintenance we offer to a blanket package, which is valid for all by CSM manufactured measurement modules.

The maintenance package for our measurement devices contains:

  • Function test of the device (LCD, decode switch, Serial and CAN bus transmission, measurement function)
  • Calibration with DKD calibration certificate
  • If necessary: Adjustment of the measurement inputs and a following second calibration with DKD calibration certificate

For Baro-Scan we offer a similar maintenance package without DKD calibration.

Not included in this maintenance package are additional costs for repair, backfitting or an upgrade of the devices. Devices which are modified from any third party (for example measurement inputs were changed) or if other measuring points are required at the calibration, an extra calibration will be made. In this cases please contact us for an individual quotation.

Our cycle-time is 5 till 10 days (from goods receipt till issue) for maintenance including calibration. Exceptings are breaks because of clearances, company holidays or a very high calibration appearance.

A up-to-date quotation for our  "maintenance package including calibration" you can get from our Technical Sales.

General information

What is calibrating?

Calibrating means the determination and documenting of the deviation of the display of a measured value (or the indicated value of a measure embodiment) of the correct value (DKD-4).

Traceability means that the result of a measurement or the value of a standard can be related to stated references, usually national or international standards, through an unbroken chain of comparisons all having stated uncertainties.

Thus a measuring instrument is compared with a standard, whose deviation was determined before by calibration with a measurement standard of higher grade.

Thus a calibration hierarchy develops:

  • The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB - the Federal Standards Laboratory of Germany) develops and retains the national standards or primary standards.
  • The calibration laboratories of the Deutscher Kalibrierdienst (DKD) have secondary standards, which are directly or indirectly attached to the national standards.
  • DKD Kalibrierlaboratorien can calibrate with their reference standards equipment, which is used either as working standard for the calibration of inspection devices of the enterprise in in-plant calibration laboratories or directly as measuring instruments in quality relevant applications.

Accreditation

To attain accreditation the requirements of the standard DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 must be fulfilled and the special guidelines of the DKD have to be considered.

After the examination of the quality mangement system and successful investigation of the calibration laboratory and its coworkers an accreditation can be the accreditation body of the DKD.

By convenient monitoring tasks by the DKD, it is guaranteed that the competence of the accredited laboratories remains permanently ensured.

Acknowledgment of the DKD calibration certificate

The German calibration service (DKD) is member in the Deutscher Akkreditierungsrat (DAR), that has among other things the task to coordinate the activities of accreditation and acknowledgment of calibration laboratories, taking place in Germany.

By the cooperation of the DKD in the European Coorperation for Accredation (EA) it is ensured that calibration certificates issued from the DKD and other calibration services ere equivalent.

In a multilateral agreement the calibration services from most European countries committed the mutual recognition of their calibration certificates.

By the membership of the DKD in the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) the acknowledgment of DKD calibration certificates is promoted also to non-European states.
